The
Whitney
Hotel
A historic boutique hotel housed in a former bank building in the Central Business District of New Orleans. The renovation blended the architectural heritage of the National Historic Landmark with modern, high-end hospitality. The project would preserve the original architecture,
including 30-foot ceilings, crown molding, and the bank vault. The team planned to modernize the lobby and introduced plans for a craft cocktail bar, a flower shop on the ground floor, a private dining room that utilized the existing vault, and a polished, casual dining concept.
The design concept was based on a fictional character; her life, core memories and her interactions with the historic building:
She is a worldly woman living in New Orleans. She straddles her intense love for both the natural world and the city’s culture by dividing her
time between her farm, where she cultivates flowers, heirloom vegetables, and grains, and the city, where she curates food and florals for local
retail and restaurants while also managing a famous floral shop in the Garden District. An avid reader, she studies weekly periodicals from
around the globe, armed with a craft cocktail, to gain inspiration for her work. The Whitney Hotel is the celebration of her life and passions -travel,
fare, flowers and potions.
