FAM Design was founded in 2020 by architect Frank Mataipule and interior designer Megan Freckelton. With more than 35 years of combined experience in architecture, interior design and creative work, our diverse portfolio includes both commercial and residential projects with an emphasis on restaurant / hospitality design. Our approach at FAM is simple: Work hard, have fun.
Interior design and architectural design;
Interior space planning and programming;
Conceptual and schematic design;
City approval process coordination including permitting, zoning, and historic neighborhood reviews and documentation;
Material specifications, detailing and documentation;
Furniture, fixture, art and accessory specifications, sourcing and procurement;
Construction and bid documents;
Construction observation and documentation;
Architectural or interior design peer review.
OZ Architecture brought Frank And Megan (FAM) together where they spent 13 and 12 years respectively and they have now been managing teams side-by-side for 10 years. They had the opportunity to work with Punch Bowl Social, who Fast Company magazine named “One of the most Innovative companies in the World”, and together, they gained experience as in-house co-design directors, designing across the country with a great team and receiving exciting accolades along the way. They are now co-founders of FAM Design.

Megan Freckelton, IIDA
A second-generation interior designer, Megan’s 15+ year career has been fueled by her goal to positively affect people’s lives through their interaction with physical space. She has been fortunate to work on a variety of project types across the country, with a focus on hospitality/restaurant design for many years. She has received multiple IIDA Interior Design BESTawards, one project in Nashville made the 2018 Architectural Digest list of “The Most Beautifully Designed Bar in Each State in America” and other work has been mentioned in publications such as: Travel + Leisure, Hospitality Design, Food & Wine, Fast Company, Forbes, and 5280 Home.
With many years of experience in the hospitality realm, Bri’s perspective and intimate understanding of end-user goals informs her approach throughout the design process. Her artistic eye paired with thoughtful, creative storytelling is carried through from concept to execution. While completing her interior design certification at Heritage School of Design, she held a teacher’s assistant position specializing in visualization programs. Finding inspiration through travel, Bri spent time in a hospitality position in Norway, while learning to speak Norwegian.
In her free time, you can find her riding motorcycles, fostering pups and spending time with her family and friends.
A full time creative, Jessica spent many years on the interior design team at OZ Architecture while spending her free time creating her own handmade jewelry line, Crow Jane. Eventually her handmade goods were so sought after she committed to Crow Jane full time, while also teaching at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design, in their CIDA accredited BFA interior design program. In 2017, she began working as a contract interior designer for the in-house Punch Bowl Social design team and was integral to the success of many project openings across the country. In 2020 Jessica joined the FAM team, and is involved in all facets of the design process – concept to execution. When she isn’t planning her next collection, she enjoys making - things grow, cooking, music, art and spending time with her family, fur-babies, turtle and bees.
"What a pleasure it was to work with FAM! Megan and Frank are the perfect team - they have a unique ability to capture exactly what you want even when you don't know yourself. Their guided, collaborative process helps you to clarify your own ideas, and their creativity and great taste ensures that the end result will be both gorgeous and unique. Can't wait to work with them again!"
